Why we started New Golfer Guide — and why we can’t stop

I was 41 years old the first time I picked up a golf club. My business partner had been dragging me to the driving range for months, and I finally gave in on a rainy Tuesday afternoon. I swung five times, missed the ball twice, and sliced the other three into the parking lot.

That was also the day I fell completely in love with golf.

Over the next year I consumed every book, YouTube video, and forum post I could find. But almost all of it assumed you already knew what a handicap was, or which iron to use, or why the ‘short game’ mattered. As a beginner, I was constantly lost — and a little embarrassed to ask.

So I started writing down everything I learned in plain English. Notes for myself, mostly. But friends started asking me for copies. Then strangers online. That’s how New Golfer Guide was born.
